Abdul Rashid Salim Salman Khan (born December 27, 1965), known professionally as Salman Khan, is an Indian actor, film producer, and television personality who works predominantly in Hindi cinema. After a supporting role in *Biwi Ho To Aisi* (1988), he had his breakthrough leading role in the musical romance *Maine Pyar Kiya* (1989), which won him the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut. Throughout the 1990s, his releases included *Sanam Bewafa* (1991), *Saajan* (1991), *Andaz Apna Apna* (1994), *Karan Arjun* (1995), *Judwaa* (1997), and *Biwi No.1* (1999). During this period, he starred in the musical romantic drama *Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!* (1994), the romantic drama *Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam* (1999), and won the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor for *Kuch Kuch Hota Hai* (1998).
In the 2000s and 2010s, Khan led commercial features across comedy, romantic drama, and action, including *Tere Naam* (2003), *Mujhse Shaadi Karogi* (2004), *No Entry* (2005), *Partner* (2007), and *Wanted* (2009). He subsequently headlined the action comedy *Dabangg* (2010), launching a franchise that included sequels in 2012 and 2019, and originated the character of Avinash Singh Rathore in the spy action film *Ek Tha Tiger* (2012), later reprising the role in *Tiger Zinda Hai* (2017) and *Tiger 3* (2023). His other leading feature credits include *Bodyguard* (2011), *Kick* (2014), the drama *Bajrangi Bhaijaan* (2015), and the sports drama *Sultan* (2016).
As a film producer under banners including Salman Khan Films, he won the National Film Award for Best Children's Film for *Chillar Party* (2011) and the National Film Award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment for *Bajrangi Bhaijaan* (2015). On television, he hosted the reality competition series *10 Ka Dum* and became the long-term host of *Bigg Boss* beginning with its fourth season in 2010. His later screen work includes *Kisi Ka Bhai... Kisi Ki Jaan* (2023), the action film *Sikandar* (2025), and the historical action drama *Raja Shivaji* (2026).
